Mastered Mommy
stay at home mom with a Master's in Social Psychology

Are you a mommy choosing to stay at home with your child or children?  I am starting this blog because well, I am a new stay at home mom choosing to stay at home with my son instead of going back to work (even with my Master’s degree in hand).  Are you feeling judged for your choices to stay home?  There is no better job in the world than being able to commit to your child or children.  Let’s teach our children what we know! Staying at home can be isolating, losing relationships that were once there (from working), but no longer are now.  And we, stay at home moms need to support each other. Do you need a place to laugh, cry, and feel connected to other mommy’s stories?

I was formerly a behavioral therapist working with children with developmental disabilities.  I did this for almost a decade, while somewhere in there completing my Master’s degree online through Walden University in Social Psychology.  I loved my job, and lived to work!  Until, about 2 years ago, my husband and I decided that we would try for a child.  Well, luckily for us it didn’t take long and we had a son.  I worked up until 8 months of pregnancy, and was planning to return to work after 3 months of unpaid maternity leave.  But when those 3 months came to an end I (and my husband) were not ready to even consider daycare or me going back to work.  So, I didn’t.  My son is now 15 months, and I still have no plans to go back!  For me, I do not feel like I am wasting my degree. I love being able to be home and bond, play and teach my son is the most important right now (and guess what, I do use my degree)!
